A Long Week...
We are so fortunate that Hayden has only been sick two or three times in his life. It's probably because he doesn't go to daycare, although maybe he's just got a strong immune system, but by and large he tends to stay healthy even when all the other littles in town seem to be coughing, sneezing, or puking. This week has been a good reminder of just why that fact is so nice.
He's just got a cold, but he's been feverish off and on, and is so congested he absolutely can't breathe. (And in the picture below you can see that his eyes are all puffy.) And oh WOW the whining. WOW. Not to fault him...Mama does her fair share of whining when she feels puny, too. But still. We've put all our regular activities on hold in order not to infect anyone else. No storytime. No swimming pool. No children's museum. No playdates. Oh, and no naps. Needless to say, our self-imposed house arrest combined with the fact that it's late winter in the Rockies has made for a long week. LONG.
Today we awoke to rain, which quickly turned to snow. And by snow, we're talking flakes the size of a toddler's head, falling at a rate of approximately a zillion per second. When that subsided, it was pretty much slushville for the rest of the day.How to pass the time? Well, there was a thoroughly entertaining visit to Daddy's shop.
(For the record, while Daddy wants it noted for perpetuity that Hayden's footwear was utterly inappropriate for the visit, he seems to have no qualms about breaking the #1 rule of junior-high shop class: NO HORSEPLAY IN THE SHOP! Want to wear your slippers to shuffle around in the sawdust? Bad idea, kid. Want to weave in and out of the power tools on a hand truck? Great! Hop aboard!)
After the shop visit and an hour-long attempt to get this exhausted boy down for a nap, there was some nice, quiet diaper folding. Ahh. Thankfully, even when he feels terrible, he's still a fantastic helper. TGIF is all I can say. Here's hoping the weekend brings better weather and health alike!

Have I mentioned lately that your photos and especially the commentary just make my day!
Ditto Lois.
I rarely get sick, but when I do it's always really bad.
I do remember being sick a lot when I was lil.
I too force my small child to do manual labor when he's ill.
