Eighteen Months!

Which is the same as one and a half! Which means that in another six months he'll be two, and, well, my oh my. It's just going too fast, is all I can say. At a year and a half, Hayden is talking like a fiend. This morning when I went to get him out of his crib, he greeted me with the following: "Wake up! Boy. Morning. Morning." I trust this needs no translation. He still loves everything with wheels, but is also partial to things with tails and things that bark, moo, quack, chirp, neigh, roar, or cough. (The best is when barking things with a tail cough. Now THAT'S funny. Lucky for him we have a barking thing with a tail who coughs and, even better, sneezes frequently. Yeah. Lucky all of us.) Hayden also happens to ADORE books. He asks for Green Eggs and Ham by name. "Ham? Read book? Ham? Ham?" Although his current favorite is Big Joe's Tractor Trailer..."Big Joe? Big Joe? Big Joe?" This kid will sit and listen to book after book, happily pointing out letters and colors and shapes. If we're not reading to him, he scans our bookshelf and looks at the pictures and letters on the spines. At this point the only letters he doesn't recognize right away are J, K, L, P, U, and V. He sees the 8 on the digital clock and says "B!". Or he sees the 5 and says "S!". Brilliant? Perhaps. But he also plays in the dog water and flushes the toilet obsessively, so we're not getting too cocky just yet. Happy eighteen months, Little Bun!

He probably is brilliant, but it pays not to get too cocky anyway. Tritto Margo and Sandi.
