Our Own Little Yearling

We're heading to Maine in a couple of days and have been busy getting tires on the car, putting in a new perennial bed, getting a new car seat, making lists, and generally getting ready to be gone for a few weeks. But we did have enough time for happy hour at the Grill Friday night (thanks for the pic, Lisa!), and tonight we were finally able to catch our breath with a family walk after dinner. It was a lovely spring evening—herons and snipe flying overhead, a mama fox and her punchy little baby crossing the road just ahead of us, lots of horses and cows, and a nice view of the mountains. It occurred to us, as we visited with these curious calves, that in a few short weeks we'll have a little yearling of our own!
