Nine Month Baby Cam

It's been a busy few weeks around here, developmentally speaking. There's waving hello and goodbye. There's inching forward on the belly with purpose and intent. There's picking up Cheerios with a thumb and forefinger...and even, on occasion, getting a Cheerio into the mouth. There's handing toys to Mom and Dad, and putting toys (again with purpose and intent!) into a basket or a box...and taking them out again...and putting them in again. Delightedly. It seems that the world is suddenly expanding exponentially for this kid, and it's such a joy to watch. But there's also been a lot of tears and, dare I say it, whining, the last few weeks, too. Because while inch-worming toward a desired toy works okay, it's exhausting and inefficient. Much easier to put your head down on the rug dejectedly and let loose. (Because that might mean Mom to the rescue!) Anyway, what he'd really prefer is to get up on his feet and GO. If only he could get those two legs to agree with him...and with each other. Stay tuned.

I love when he almost tips out of the shot.

Way to go little boy! Next thing will be a hike to Denali!

Our friend's little boy loves zippers. I brought my backpack over to the house (we were babysitting) and he loved the big metal tabs on the zippers. just big enough for his little hands to fit around. The zippers are big and strong and the bag is heavy, so it didnt' move while he opened and closed zippers for a good 30 minutes. He was able to hold himself up - opened and closed zippers while one baby-sitter watched over and the other made a salad.

It is so cool seeing them realize how their fingers function
