Spring...and Lost Treasures
It's been close to 70 degrees here the last two days, and the tulips are up! Unfortunately, the deer discovered them just about the same time I did...
We went to a
"gardening locally" workshop over the weekend, where enthusiasts gathered to talk about composting (hooray!), pest management, fencing, and annual and perennial herb production. To that end we've got our cilantro, basil, and pepper seeds started, with plans to get everything else started soon. And I bought two perennial herb plants from the local nursery, which I hope to keep alive and flourishing in our less-than-sunny kitchen.
And speaking of nurseries, Tim's been working on ours! We're turning a bedroom- turned- handicap- bathroom (once upon a time, for Tim's dad) back into a bedroom, so Tim pulled out the sink, shower, and toilet, pulled up the linoleum, and refinished the original oak floors. There's still lots to be done, but this is a huge start. He discovered a few old toys in the heating duct when he was working, and although this was his bedroom when he was a teenager, he insists that he was not playing with Army guys and marbles at sixteen...
