Sinks Canyon (And a Fire)
The heat is still unbearable, and even after all our complaining this winter about simply needing to get outside, now that the snow is gone we're spending an embarrassing amount of time indoors. Such is life in the northern Rockies. But this afternoon we donned sunhats and sunscreen and braved the high temps to head to the ever-so-slightly cooler playground in Sinks Canyon.

Sure, it's totally in the sun and by late afternoon most of the equipment will cause second-degree burns to a small child if s/he stands too near it. And sure, these pictures suggest that Hayden was just this side of heat stroke. But. We were outside, by gawd. And with the stiff wind (that no doubt helped this fire in the mountains get going), it was almost, just barely bearable.

Oh man, he does look just shy of heat stroke! How about a little wading pool in the shade in the backyard. Mommy, you could get in it too. Take care.
