Foiled Again (Sort Of)

Hayden has a new PFD (a.k.a. "lifejacket") that we wanted to try out, so once again we headed up to the mountains — this time for a little paddling. Once we were up high, though, the wind was starting to build and the clouds were rolling in. Which seemed like an in- auspicious intro to canoeing for a one- year-old, so instead we made do with hanging out on shore for a while. The great thing is that Hayden's still at an age where he has no idea when our plans are thwarted. What's this? he said giddily when he saw where we were. Water? Sand? Rocks? Sticks? Be still my wee little heart! Honestly, he probably had way more fun than if he'd been zipped into a hot neoprene jacket and made to sit still in a boat. Plus, we bumped into a couple of Hayden's favorite peeps up there in the mountains—total bonus! Three cheers for small towns and Sunday afternoons.

Hey, you two ladies are wearing the same outfit! Now there's a small town coincidence!
Looks like fun, I'm sure you're right, Hayden didn't appear to think anything had gone wrong. Fun pics.
