Teeth

It seems Baby H. is getting two bottom teeth. But not the incisors, which typically come in first. These seem to be eye teeth. It's hard to say, though, because they're on the inside of the lower gums and difficult to see. I mean, I'm assuming these are teeth and not some weird oral growth! There's a lot of drooling and chewing and, sadly, crying. Nah, I'm sure they're teeth. No good pictures of 'em yet (definitely not visible in this one, so don't bother trying to look!), but it did remind me of a poem I wrote a few years ago when my nephew was just a babe...

Milestone
My sister called today to say
The baby has a tooth! Picture it:
a milky star emerging from a pink sky,
a constellation’s first sparkle.
Imagine: how at five months
he has already learned to give
something up, to let go
of some small space.

What a beautiful picture! It's perfect and he's so adorable. I can hardly stand it. I also loved the poem. Go Hayden, grow that tooth! Your Gran loves you.
